Healthy Eating: Changing Your Diet with the Seasons

One of the common complaints that we hear is that people assume eating healthy has to be boring and restrictive in order to be effective. That couldn’t be further from the truth.

At Total HealthcareMD, we believe that one of the best ways to create sustainable healthy eating habits is by changing your diet with the seasons.

We’re fortunate to live in a region with an abundance of fresh, locally grown produce. To maximize flavor, it’s always best to seek out produce when it is in season. While you may see blueberries in the grocery store year round, they’re truly in season starting late spring through summer, typically May to July.

Changing your diet with the seasons is a simple way to introduce a variety of fruits and vegetables, and in turn a healthy mix of essential vitamins and nutrients. It’s also an excellent way to prevent getting bored with the same old recipes.

With Memorial Day, the unofficial start to summer, just around the corner, here are some of the fruits and vegetables we are most looking forward to enjoying this upcoming season.
